I Write About Feminism |
SAMANTHA AGE: 26 READ ABOUT SEX, GENDER, LGBTQ EQUALITY, AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS! AND ASK QUESTIONS! tweet me @SamanthaPajor What feminism means to me: Feminism is about people who believe in equality of the sexes. Each person is unique, with their own needs, struggles, and history. Feminism celebrates people for who they are and works to ensure that all people are treated equally, with dignity and respect. About this blog: I write about the issues listed above from my perspective as a feminist. It's not a feminist theory blog, but I hope that the issues I write about inform my readers on current events, politics, and the state of women's rights (mostly within the U.S.) |
Not with the word itself, but its implications and connotations. It seems to be inherently dismissive, like there’s an invisible “just” in front of it: “Jane isn’t feeling well.” “Oh no, what’s wrong?” “(Just) cramps.” “Oh, okay.” Is our pain less valid because we can expect it every month?
What if we said “Yeah, I’m just a bit uncomfortable because the lining of my uterus is ripping off and being expelled out of my body.”? Would you listen then?
this so much right now. “why aren’t you asleep?” “cramps. pain.” “oh, well get to sleep.” FUH.
….huh. Yeah. Okay this.
trying to describe what it feels like to boys/girls who are truly touched by the gods: -it’s like my uterus is spaghetti...
“Hey, why does Prometheus keep whining so much?” “Oh, it’s just an eagle that eats his guts every day at the same time.”...
